The Banned Book Collection
Coach
Gen Z has embraced books as a core way to express identity. Through social communities like BookTok, reading has become a visible language of self-expression, where people share who they are through what they read.
Meanwhile, books exploring themes of identity, race, and gender are being increasingly banned. For a generation that uses books as tools for self-expression, access to these diverse perspectives has never been more culturally urgent.
And with Coach’s purpose being ‘Courage to Be Real’ and to encourage self-expression, we needed to act.
Together with Penguin Random House, Coach created fully readable mini books. Transforming an accessory into a statement of identity and self-expression, at a time when diverse voices are under threat.
